We own a lot of books -I mean a real lot! My husband is a pastor; enough said. We homeschool; enough said. We love reading; enough said! As you might imagine, we have all kinds of books. Even though the girls are no longer babies, I still have a pile of my favorite board books. As I write this, it is occurring to me that I will likely write several posts on books, because there are simply too many great ones to mention in one post. Our favorite book is, God’s Word, the Bible. Each of us owns a Reformation Study Bible in the ESV.
They all have commentaries which help explain the verses. My husband’s is the large one on the bottom of the pile. His includes the many creeds and confessions of the early church, and it is very heavy!
The next three in the pile are the condensed versions, and the cute pink one on top is a student edition. The pink one is quite big too, but it is not as heavy as dad’s!
Our second favorite book would be John Bunyan’s “Pilgrim’s Progress.” If you have never read this story, it is excellent! It is a fantastic read aloud for the entire family. Don’t underestimate how much the little children can understand. You will certainly be amazed if you give it a try.
My third favorite is “The Valley of Vision.” This collection of prayers is a wonderful addition to devotion time. It also makes a terrific gift!
