(That’s a long blog post title, lol!)
So, I’m not exactly a minimalist. I’m more of a “Minimalist Wannabe.” I am technically an affiliate linker, but, full disclosure, I am not very successful -yet! Working on it.
“What’s an affiliate linker?” you may be wondering. (I always think that if I know something that everyone else must know it too -which is not a good characteristic, I am trying to work on this too!) An affiliate link is a link on the internet that leads to a product that is for sale. An affiliate linker is a person who posts affiliate links online for companies and earns a small commission when a consumer uses their link to purchase a product.
It’s a pretty ingenious way for companies to get a lot of free advertisement for their products. The advertising industry has to be increasingly savvy in this modern age of internet and social media platforms. While linkers try to grow clients, these companies can potentially get a huge amount of advertising before they have to pay out.

Before you get too excited about collaborating with friends and family and making millions, you need to know that there are a lot of rules and regulations -like not advertising to friends and family! That’s one of the reasons that I haven’t been very successful -yet! I am trying to build an entire customer base without the help of the people I know and who support me already.
That’s where the ridiculously long blog post title comes in! I myself try to consume less, while I want to get my readers to purchase stuff from my links so I can get a paycheck! Hmm. That’s like the book I read once that said we needed to read less books.
Also, about wanting to being a minimalist. (I am going to assume that you do know what that is with all the hype it’s had over the last few years. Also, the word is somewhat self-explanatory…) I really like the idea of having way fewer material possessions. That’s another thing that I am working on -decluttering and constant sorting. In this materialistic culture, especially as a family with children at home, it impossible not to be overrun with stuff if we are not constantly making an effort to sort and organize. However, it is really hard to part with stuff! I would like to use the excuse that I am not the only one in my family, but, if I were, would I be really be willing to get rid of that much more? It sure would make cleaning the house a whole lot easier if we had fewer belongings.
So, am I a hypocrite for wanting less stuff and asking you to buy more? I do want you to buy stuff through my affiliate links, BUT, I want you to buy something you were going to buy anyway. It doesn’t have to be what I’m recommending or advertising -even though I would be so happy to find out that one of my recommendations had been helpful to you too! I benefit from any purchase that you make shortly after using one of my links. So you can get what you need and help a girl out too!
